Cookie Policy

Last Updated: January 24, 2026

Cynosure uses cookies to ensure our platform functions correctly, and we believe in being transparent about our cookie practices. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are used, for what purpose, and your choices regarding cookies.

Important: All cookies we use are essential to the operation of the Service. We do not use any non-essential, advertising, or tracking cookies.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your computer or device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site. Cookies can be "session" cookies (which exist only while your browser is open and are deleted when you close it) or "persistent" cookies (which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them).

On Cynosure, all our cookies are session cookies or short-lived, and none are used to track you across other sites. They are strictly to provide you with core functionalities like staying logged in and keeping your connection secure.

Cookies We Use and Why

Here are the cookies (or similar technologies) that Cynosure uses, and their purposes:

Authentication Cookie

When you log in, we set a cookie to remember that you are authenticated. This cookie contains a random session identifier tied to your account. It does not contain your username or password, and it cannot be read by other websites (it's limited to the cynosure.life domain). This cookie allows you to navigate the site without having to log in on every page. It expires after a certain time or when you log out. Without this cookie, the site wouldn't "know" that you're the same verified user from page to page.

Security Cookies

We use cookies for security protections, such as preventing cross-site request forgery attacks by ensuring that actions you take are actually by you. These cookies are typically tied to your session and ensure that no malicious site can silently instruct your browser to take actions on Cynosure without your consent. Additionally, we might have a cookie to detect multiple concurrent sessions or other unusual activity, which helps us protect your account from hijacking. These cookies carry no personal info, just tokens and flags.

Payment Context Cookie

If you initiate a purchase (like buying credits or subscribing), we may set a cookie that stores a reference to your pending transaction or the page you were on. This helps in two ways: (1) if you are redirected to our payment processor (Stripe) and then back, we use this cookie to restore your state (so you end up in the right spot, like a confirmation page or back to the content you were viewing), and (2) it can carry non-sensitive info needed for the payment process (such as an order ID or selected package). This cookie is short-lived and is removed once the payment is completed or canceled.

Preferences (if applicable)

If the site offers any user preferences that need to be stored (for example, a toggle for light/dark mode or language selection), we might use a cookie to remember that choice. Currently, most of our preferences are stored in your account settings server-side, but if any are client-side, they would be saved in a cookie. Such a cookie is purely for your convenience and usually persistent for a longer duration so you don't have to re-set your preference each visit.

No Third-Party Cookies

We do not embed third-party scripts that set cookies on your device for analytics or marketing. For instance, we do not use Google Analytics cookies, Facebook pixels, or similar trackers that follow you outside our site. Any analysis of usage we do is either without cookies or via our own first-party tools. Thus, when you're on Cynosure, the only cookies you'll encounter are the ones listed above, all of which are first-party and essential.

All cookies we set are flagged as Secure (meaning they are only sent over HTTPS) and HttpOnly (meaning JavaScript on the page cannot read them, which helps mitigate XSS exploits). They are also scoped to our domain and, where appropriate, specific paths, to limit exposure.

Managing Cookies

Because our cookies are essential for the Service to work, there is no mechanism to selectively opt out of them (since doing so would break core functionality). When you create an account or log in to Cynosure, you are implicitly consenting to these essential cookies. We make this clear in our Privacy Policy and in this Cookie Policy for transparency.

If you still wish to restrict or delete cookies, you can do so through your web browser settings. Browsers allow you to see what cookies are stored and to delete or block cookies. Please note, however, that if you block Cynosure's cookies, the Service may not work properly or at all. For example, if you block the auth cookie, the site will not remember that you are logged in, and you will effectively be logged out immediately or unable to log in.

Here are generic guides if you want to manage cookies in common browsers (the exact steps may differ based on version):

  • Chrome: Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data. You can clear cookies or set preferences for websites.
  • Firefox: Options > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data.
  • Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data.
  • Edge: Settings > Site permissions > Cookies and site data.

You can usually create exceptions or allow only certain sites. We recommend allowing cookies for cynosure.life to use our service smoothly, since we do not use them for anything except core service needs.

Changes to This Cookie Policy

If we ever plan to add any non-essential cookies or begin using cookies in a way that changes the user experience (for instance, introducing analytics or advertising), we will update this Cookie Policy accordingly and notify users as required (possibly via a banner asking for consent, since that would then be needed). We remain committed to minimal and ethical use of cookies.

For now, rest assured that we are not tracking you across the web and our use of cookies is strictly aimed at providing you with a secure and convenient experience on Cynosure.
